Hi,

I'm using Money 2005, and downloading transactions from my Bank of America
account. Money downloads the transactions OK, but does not grab all of the
transaction description from the bank. The details from the bank website seem
too much for Money, and it truncates them.

Bank Of America (using questionable judgement) has about 3 lines of text for
each and every transaction posted using a check card. The first couple of
lines are useless because they are common for most transactions. Money 2005
only seems to grab the first 20-30 characters of the description, and does
not capture the meaningful data. Is there any way to solve this. I am hoping
for a way to configure Money 2005 to allow more of the transaction details to
be downloaded - instead of truncating them.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You probably won't like my suggestion, but if you want to see the information
in Money the way you want to see it, DO IT MANUALLY. It really doesn't take
that much time and you then have a record the way you want it. I've been doing
it that way for 9 years and I have my complete financial records available to
me the way I want to see them.

[M05]Banking->AccountTools->Categories&Payees->Payees->GoToPayeeRulesManager.
Your downloaded transactions may come with some generic term where
the Payee should be. Excluded Payee Names identifies words and
phrases that should be ignored from the payee field (e.g., check,
deposit). Add words that are generically added by your bank.
Unfortunately there are no wildcards, so check 334, check 335, and
check 336 will each be treated as potential new payee names. Set
[M05]Tools->Settings->OnlineServices->ShowStandardizedPayeeNames to
combine payees that differ only by a number at the end. This may
work better after you have combined payees from previous downloads.

I don't know if excluding those words will fix the problem for you
or not, but it may help.
